BMW i9 planned for 2016

If you feel like having a great driving experience you have to get on board of a BMW. Sporting and dynamic performance combined with superb design and exclusive quality characterizes the German company headquartered in Munich. BMW is for sure a modern brand with spectacular vehicles. So it clearly enters the modern trends of nowadays when electric and hybrid cars seem to have top priority. And with a little bit of patience we will enjoy the BMW i9 plug-in hybrid supercar, but no sooner than 2016.

The fact that BMW has chosen 2016 as a release year is not random. It is the year when the company celebrates its centenary. And this supercar is nothing but the most deserved gift for the company’s long and fruitful history.  Experts say that the new BMW i9 will be actually a hardcore version of the i8, powered by a plug-in hybrid hardware system that will generate considerably more than the current 362 PS (266 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. The extra power will be realized by replacing the i8's 231 PS three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a larger unit. In addition, the i9 will receive a beefier electric motor outputting more than the 131 PS (96 kW) available in the i8.

If we are to consider all these changes, the BMW i9 should weight more than the current i8 model. However, there is also the possibility for the German company to use more carbon fiber and aluminum to offset the added weight coming from the beefier engine and electric motor combo. The same experts state that these modifications will not affect the i8's ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Just to make an impression on the future car’s possibilities, we remind you that the i8 needs 4.4 seconds to do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) distance before getting to an electronically-limited maximum speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Having these figures in mind, we know for sure that the future i9 will be more powerful.
