Mercedes-Benz C350e ready for order starting January

Hybrid cars keep the headlines of every automobile focused magazine. We are in the middle of the eco-friendly vehicles and the reasons which convinced even the most important brands to invest in them are not few. Of course, Mercedes-Benz has already adopted the hybrid and electric vehicles’ trend, despite its impressive history in the conventional engines. Therefore, the German company is planning a plug-in hybrid Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Orders for this version will begin in a month or so.

The vehicle will be commercialized as the Mercedes-Benz C350e, and that “e” at the back is more than obvious that the vehicle will be electric based. The vehicle has already been announced by the producer more than a month ago and it is sure that deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2015.

Mercedes-Benz C350e will be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine developing 208 bhp (155 kW) mated with an electric motor generating an extra 80 bhp (60 kW). The car will also be equipped with a 8.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack installed above the rear axle which will provide a more balanced weight distribution. In electric mode, the vehicle could run up to 32 km (20 miles) before remaining powerless while in hybrid mode it should have a fuel consumption of just 2.1 liters / 100 km (112 mpg US or 134.5 mpg UK). This seems to be just the beginning of hybrid and electric vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz company, as they are apparently planning more eco- friendly cars.
