Orders start for the Volkswagen Golf R Variant

This year seems to be a good one for all the Volkswagen lovers. The latest news coming from Germany is that the Volkswagen Golf R Variant can be ordered starting this month. The vehicle was officially presented at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show and now we also have the correct price for it, set at €42,925.

The Volkswagen Golf R Variant has many nice features but the adjective that best fits it is practical. The wagon has a 605 liters trunk so it is perfect for carrying more things at once. The car is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to both axles via 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The powering unit generates 300 HP (221 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft).

The Volkswagen Golf R Variant can be called a sporty wagon, as it has been brought closer to ground by 20mm and it can do the 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 5.1 seconds. It is equipped with bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, spot seats, blue ambient lighting, automatic climate control system, touchscreen display and for some extra money the manufacturer can also add a Carbon Style Nappa leather package. We can also say that it is quite an economical vehicle, as it consumes only 7 liters / 100 km (33.6 mpg US or 40.3 mpg UK) and emit 163 g/km of CO2. In these terms, we have a vehicle worth of its price which begins at €42,925.
