Mitsubishi Outlander facelift prepared for New York

“Come see the new face of Mitsubishi Motors” is the slogan of the Japanese company Mitsubishi which is going to attack the New York International Auto Show which starts on April 2nd with a few new vehicles. Among these there is the facelift Mitsubishi Outlander, which is pretty much influenced by the Outlander PHEV Concept-S, revealed at the last Paris Auto Show.

The only thing we’ve got about the Mitsubishi Outlander facelift is rumours. They say that the SUV will be distinguished by the extensive use of metallic material such as chrome elements, new fog lights, chrome accents at the back and brand new taillights. It should also have a more impressive design.

The Mitsubishi Outlander facelift might benefit from improvements on the hybrid system which powers the PHEV concept. The Outlander which is currently available is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, two electric motors and a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery. It can only make use of electricity for up to 34 miles and some improvements could really happen. The maximum range is 547 miles and the car will be using only 1.6 liters per 100 km of fuel to cover them. Mitsubishi will also exhibit some other models, but all the details will be revealed in a couple of weeks.
