MINI Superleggera Vision concept green-lighted for production

Do you remember the MINI Superleggera Vision concept? It was introduced some time ago at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and it is one of the most stylish MINI models, having the most minimalist and emotional style of motoring. Well, according to BMW officials, the small fancy concept will be transformed into a production version which will be ready by 2018.

The MINI Superleggera Vision concept was an electric vehicle, powered by a single electric motor. As you would guess, the car will suffer a few modifications to make it road legal. It will use the same traditional engines as the current model so this means it will be offered   in both FWD and AWD guises and could possibly get hotter S and JCW versions.

The MINI Superleggera Vision concept had a striking hand-crafted body that featured soft curves and a bespoke Como Blue paint job. Other important styling elements include a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber reinforced plastic side sills and a distinctive rear fin.  Inside we could admire premium leather upholstery, a digital instrument cluster and aluminum-covered dashboard, as well as a three-spoke steering wheel, an analog clock and Union Jack-inspired structural elements in the doors. All of these summed up provided more style and attitude to the small hatchback and hopefully most of them will be kept for the production phase.
