VW C Coupe GTE concept prepared to enter production phase

Step by step, in time, Volkswagen has conquered the auto markets in the entire world. Even China has become a great place for the German brand to develop. The Chinese market will receive the Volkswagen C Coupe GTE concept next year, as a production version. And we might say it is a privilege, since it is the only market that will benefit of the C Coupe’s presence.

The Volkswagen C Coupe GTE is now being showcased at Auto Shanghai and will soon enter the assembly line. It will come equipped only with a plug-in hybrid configuration.  It will be one of the 15 alternatively-powered vehicles from VAG to be locally-produced and sold in China, together with the Passat GTE and the Audi A6 L e-tron. The Golf GTE will also join the range next year.

The Volkswagen C Coupe GTE concept is powered by a four-cylinder TSI engine that is mated to an electric motor built into the 8-speed automatic transmission. It has a combined output of 245 PS (180 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) which allows the coupe to do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 8.6 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 144 mph (232 km/h). The car has a fuel consumption of only 2.3 liters / 100 km (102.2 mpg US or 122.8 mpg UK) and it can do for up to 31 miles (50 km) only in electric mode. As a hybrid, the concept can provide a maximum range of 497 miles (800 km). This is very likely to be the same configuration used on the production version, too.
