The model will touch the track later this month at the framed Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race in Florida. It features a rear-drive layout and a racing version of the LS2 V8 engine that delivers around 450 horsepower. The production G6 GXP is powered by a complex DOHC 3.6-liter V6 that is capable of developing 252 horsepower. The bodywork of the GXP.R retains the silhouette of a production G6 GXP, but lightweight carbon fiber replica panels are used throughout to reduce overall mass. The stock window glass is replaced with lighter, shatter-resistant polycarbonate pieces. The model has its own distinctive rear spoiler.
