Inspired by the 1967 Porsche Targa, Alois Ruf and his team built a Ruf Roadster, managing to successfully combine the safety of a coupe with the fresh air feeling provided by a convertible. The driver enjoys the possibility of removing and folding the centre ...
The first RUF RGT was based on the Porsche 996 and it was powered by a 3.6-liter engine capable of developing 385 BHP. Now, the specialists repeat the story, but this time with a 997 model. Under the hood it had a 3.8-liter engine capable of developing 445 BHP and used 19-inch alloy wheels for the race track. In Marc 2010, RUF announced the RGT-8 designed with a 4.5-liter V8 engine 4-valve system with spherical layout capable of developing 550 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. All the output was being sent to the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. It used Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires running on 19-inch RUF forged alloy wheels. The production is planned to start in 2011.
RUF introduced the first electric sports car, eRUF, from Germany in October 2008. At the Geneva Motor Show, in March 2008, RUF presented an evolution of the first eRUF and now the family continues to grow with the unveiling of the Stormster, the very first electrically driven SUV based on the Porsche Cayenne. Under the hood it hides an electric motor capable of developing 270 kW. This amount of power enables the car to accelerate from o to 100 km/h in 10 seconds and to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. It is able of reaching a range of 200 km at one charge. The model will have its first public debut at the European Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark in December.
RUF developed the Rt 12 S high performance sports car. The Bi-turbo boxer engine is capable of developing 685 horsepower and 880 Nm of torque. The model runs on 19-inch light alloy wheels. Behind you can see the ceramic brake discs of this high performance brake system. The chassis and the aerodynamics are tuned to a maximum speed of 360 km/h. The RUF Rt 12 S coupe can optionally be delivered with rear drive or four-wheel drive and costs EUR255.900.
Siemens Corporate Technology has developed an integrated system consisting of a motor, power electronics and an interface with a battery connection for electrically powered cars. Also they have developed an adapted power-train for the eRUF Greenster that will be revealed in Geneva. This is equipped with a central motor with a power output of 270 kW and 950 Nm of torque, but the following version will be produced as a small series with RUF as a double-motor concept with the innovative integral eDrive. A small series planned on the basis of this concept is expected to hit the streets in 2010. The model is capable of accelerating reaching 60 mph in around 5.0 seconds and a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
RUF developed the Dakara and it has as base the Porsche Cayenne. It runs on 22-inch 5-spoke wheels and the broadened fenders demonstrate pure power. The interior is affected by the back if the Dakara cater for the panorama view. The V8-Turbomotor offers an output of 600 horsepower and 890 Nm of torque. This way, the Dakara is capable of reaching 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. The carmaker even offers ceramic-composite brakes. The chassis and the brake system are adjusted to the high requirements.
RUF Automobile GmbH is now introducing the first electronically powered sports car from Germany. 35 million kW is enough energy to power one of the prototypes eRUF as described below for 3500 journeys around the globe or 3500 of the cars one time around the world each. The eRUF Model A concept is the first prototype to lead the technical development away from the combustion engine. The model is enabled to produce 204 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque and to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. The power and torque produced by the 3-phase motor becomes a generator producing electricity to charge the batteries.
RUF developed a special edition 3400K available as a coupe or as a convertible. Under the hood it hides a 3.4-liter flat-6 engine capable of developing 400 horsepower and 325 lb. ft. of torque, reaching a top speed of 181 km/h.
RUF announced the introduction of its third generation CTR3. This will actually be one of the fastest Porsche models on offer. Under the hood it has a 3.8-liter flat six-engine capable of developing 700 BHP and 657 lb. ft. of torque. This amount of power enables it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of 235 mph. The body is made of aluminum, steel and Kevlar-carbon and it features anti-lock braking system Bosch ABS 8.0. The amount of money you will have to take out of your pocket is around EUR380.000.
The RUF RGT has as base the 1973 Carrera RS, a model powered by a revving normally aspirated engine. Under the hood it hides a 3.8-liter engine capable of developing 445 horsepower. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and to reach a top speed of 197 mph. The standard RGT Coupe is equipped with an integrated roll cage which is covered almost entirely by the Alcantara of the A, B and C pillar. The crossbar can be demounted.
