The 2010 Smart ForTwo received a power boost, but it remains just as economical and environmentally-friendly as before. It consumes only 3.4 liter of diesel per 100 km. Thanks to its unique concept it takes up minimum road and parking space, boasts low fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions and combines mobility and ecology in a unique way. Its diesel engine is capable of delivering 54 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 16.8 seconds. Because of the optimized engine and transmission management the petrol models of the popular two-seater car also comply with the demanding EU5 exhaust gas standard. Not only does this help the environment, but in some countries it entails clear tax advantages. The price for the future ForTwo starts at EUR 11.790 as a coupe in the pure equipment line.

Smart developed the ForTwo Passion cabriolet that has all the features of the Passion coupe plus an upgraded radio and sound system that includes an MP3 compatible in-dash 6 CD charger. The model is powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine that is capable of delivering 70 horsepower. All the output is then transferred to the wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. It runs on 9-spoke alloy wheels with 155/60 R15 front tires and 175/55 R15 rear tires. On the outside it features fully automatic convertible top with glass rear window, projector beam halogen headlights, side indicators in yellow and exterior mirror cap in tridion color. On the inside it has 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel with steering wheel shift paddles. Also it features seat belts and belt-force limiter, panic button on key, a tire repair kit and a lot of other safety elements.

BRABUS prepared two variants for the Smart ForTwo, the ForTwo BRABUS and the ForTwo BRABUS Xclusive. The carmaker will present them at the Geneva Motor Show. These two have and engine that is capable of delivering 98 BHP and 140 Nm of torque. They have 30% more engine power than the BRABUS variant of the predecessor model. The CO2 emission level and the fuel consumption are not really big issues the customer or the environment, for that matter, have to pay extra for. The Smart ForTwo is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than ten seconds and can reach a top speed of 155 km/h. The BRABUS Xclusive is a model that combines sportiness and luxury and comes with equipment that leaves nothing to be desired. The two models will be launched on the market in the autumn of 2007.

The Smart ForTwo was in on duty in the Pink Panther movie next to Inspector Clouseau. With a total of seven appearances, the Smart ForTwo is well represented on the screen. In the movie, the car is presented to the viewers as a sporty city car with wit and personality, whose size alone gives it plenty of advantages around town. The appearance of the ForTwo in the film is part of a new marketing strategy the carmaker is working on right now. They are concentrating more than ever on combining different forms of advertising that will appeal directly to customers and potential customers. This new idea has to help minimize looses resulting from insufficiently selective advertising. As part of the integrated campaign started by Smart, regional and local activities will be stepped up to ensure that customers are addressed in a targeted way.

Smart revealed the ForFun2 model at the Athens Motor Show in November 2005. Once the platform for the Smart ForFun2 has been decided, in January of this year Stefan Attart started working on the first designs. The engine and the transmissions were adopted from the Unimog. The OM 352, a 6-cyllinder diesel engine with a capacity of 5.675 cc was situated on the front axle and was capable of delivering 84 BHP. The diesel version of the production car has a 41 BHP engine. The designers wanted to give the Smart ForFun2 maximum off-road mobility for off-road driving. To do this, there was fitted a manually controlled sir suspension. This enables the driver to specifically influence individual spring, a particular advantage on extreme downhill gradients.
