The 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-360 is a new and more powerful vsrsion of the icnonic Lancer Evolution IX supercar, offering pace and practicality at an affordable price of $35,504. Its comprehensive specification includes climate control, all-round electric windows and electrically adjustable mirrors, a category 1 alarm and four airbags, proving that performance and comfort can go hand-in-hand. The FQ-360 was developed by the performance division Ralliart and engineers from Mitsubishi UK's motor sport, who were keen on improving the performance of the 1997cc 4-cylinder 4G63 twin scroll turbo engine, by adding a high-flow catalytic converter and a high pressure fuel pump. Furthermore, the engineers have fully reprogrammed the ECU and obtained a car that produced 366bhp at 6887rpm and 363lb ft of torque at a lowly 3200rpm.
Paul Brigden, general manager, Ralliart, stated that they had worked hard to optimise the FQ-360's driveability as their aim was to deliver the best possible driving experience instead of focusing on a headline-grabbing power output. The car covers the 0-100 km/h sprint in only 4.1 seconds, while its maximum speed reaches 160 mph. The exterior has gained a few subtle touches which differentiate the FQ-360 from the rest of the Lancer Evolution range and result in better aerodynamic efficiency at high speeds. The most obvious change is embodied by the carbon fibre front lip spoiler, which provides extra downforce. The bespoke set of alloy wheels was developed by Speedline and are shod with Yokohama ADVAN AO46 235/45ZR17 tyres, which are shared with the rest of the Lancer Evolution range.
The interior shows refinement and style with its Ralliart Sports Meter Kit.
The vehicle load is matched to driving conditions through the Electronic Brake Distribution which automatically regulates the front and rear braking force.
