Renault Scenic 2006

Because of the big demand from family customers looking for even bigger boot volume and extra storage space, Renault decided to launch a five-seat Grand Scenic as a response. The model will go on sale on September 21st, 2006, even if orders will start on July 18th. The price for the five-seat Grand Scenic is somewhere between EUR 19.850 and EUR 31,300 and for the seven-seat Scenic between EUR 21.050 and EUR 31.900. With the launch of the two variants, Renault is trying to keep up with competition. The new Scenic offers a comprehensive choice of engines and transmissions centered on the 2.0 dCi engine that delivers 150 horsepower and the 1.5 dCi that offers 105 horsepower, but also low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Renault has big plans for the future. The carmaker hopes to launch 26 new models between now and 2009. I will do that for sure, because this Grand Scenic is a good reference for the future models.

Renault is to launch a five-seat Grand Sc?nic in response to demand from family customers looking for ever bigger boot volume and extra stowage space. Its arrival on the market coincides with the release in France and Western Europe of New Sc?nic and seven-seat New Grand Sc?nic, both leaders in their respective segments.
New Sc?nic goes on sale in France on September 21, 2006, although the Renault network will start taking orders on July 18. The New Sc?nic range has evolved to offer even greater simplicity, with a choice of six equipment levels ? with a trim level specific to each one ? plus a range of eight powerplants. Following its success on Sc?nic II, the limited-edition Carminat version will continue to be available for New Sc?nic, five-seat Grand Sc?nic and seven-seat Grand Sc?nic.
New Sc?nic prices range from ?18,750 to ?30,700 for Sc?nic, from ?19,850 to ?31,200 for the five-seat Grand Sc?nic and from ?21,050 to ?31,900 for the seven-seat Grand Sc?nic.
Launched at the same time as New Sc?nic and the seven-seat Grand Sc?nic, the five-seat Grand Sc?nic aims to enable Renault to maintain its edge in the fiercely competitive compact MPV segment, which is constantly being renewed. Compact MPVs account for 40% of the C segment, which Sc?nic has topped for many years now. The launch of New Sc?nic is key to meeting the market share, profitability and image objectives that have been set for the Renault brand
New Sc?nic builds on all the fundamental strengths that have ensured the success of its predecessor, including unrivalled comfort and flexibility, class-leading safety and popular technological innovations. New Sc?nic also marks an important step forward in build quality.
Since Sc?nic II`s design evidently appeals to customers, only subtle changes have been made to New Sc?nic`s lines. The car has been given a more modern front end and rear lights, while the cabin features even greater refinement and all interior trims have been revised.
A spacious interior is cited as the principal reason for purchase in the compact MPV segment and this explains the importance of the five-seat Grand Sc?nic`s launch. Thanks to its incontestable strengths - boot volume of stowage space - and extremely competitive price tag (just ?500 more than New Sc?nic), the five-seat Grand Sc?nic is aimed at helping Renault appeal to and win over a family customer base on a limited budget.
New Sc?nic comes with a comprehensive choice of engines and transmissions centred notably on the 2.0 dCi 150hp and 1.5 dCi 85hp and 105hp powerplants which offer classleading fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and sound-proofing.
In addition to the eight available engines, New Sc?nic can now be ordered with one of two automatic transmissions in the case of diesel versions ? including a four-speed transmission for the 1.9 dCi 130hp engine and a six-speed alternative for the 2.0 dCi 150hp engine. The petrol-powered 1.6 16V is now mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

A repositioned range
Unveiled on February 9, 2006, Renault Commitment 2009 plans to launch 26 new models between now and 2009. Within this framework, Renault has chosen to simplify its line-up with a view to making it even easier to understand for the customer and easier to remember for the sales staff. The former Sc?nic II range has made way for a range based on combinations of engines and equipment levels in the case of New Sc?nic.
The line-up is based on six equipment levels known as Sc?nic, Authentique, Expression, Dynamique, Privil?ge and Jade, the last of which takes New Sc?nic well and truly into the realm of top-of-the-range cars. Standard integral metallic paint and extra-tinted windows ensure the model stands out as a genuine eye-catcher.
A comfortable, brightly lit interior ? thanks to a fixed panoramic sunroof and beige leather upholstery ? are two of New Sc?nic Jade`s other salient features, which are compounded by a long list of driver aids, including front and rear parking assist, ESP and tyre pressure monitoring system.
Following the success of the Sc?nic II Carminat limited edition, a Carminat version is also available in the case of New Sc?nic, five-seat Grand Sc?nic and seven-seat Grand Sc?nic. The New Sc?nic range has also been made more competitive thanks to the availability of such equipment as a radio-CD player and cruise control/speed limiter from the Authentique level upwards, while the Renault Hands-free Card is available from the Expression version up ? a market exclusive.
