At the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, Japanese carmaker Toyota revealed the 2011 Avalon, a sophisticated, elegant and comfortable car with a distinctive new exterior. The interior was restyled and it features different practical new technologies. The new Avalon has dynamic and expressive lines and an infusion of comfort, safety and technology advancements that enrich the driving experience. Under the hood it hides a 24-valve, dual-overhead cam 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of developing 268 horsepower. The engine is equipped with the latest dual VVT-I electronic valve-control mechanism that provides a broader power-band, while requiring less fuel and generating fewer emissions. It is mated to a multi-mode 6-speed automatic transmission. The first models will arrive in Toyota dealerships in the spring of 2010.

Japanese carmaker Mazda started selling a facelift-version of the Mazda Atenza also known as Mazda6 to its Japanese customers. The model features improvements to its environmental and safety attributes, driving performance, interior and exterior design and quality levels. The car is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. Improvements to driving performance include updated power steering and suspension settings that have resulted in better handling and straight-line stability at high speeds. The exterior adopts the new Mazda family face with a 5-point front grille and other spirited design elements that enhance its sportiness. The interior has a smooth, glossy, piano-black finish. This color combination in the interior conveys a refined and high quality atmosphere. The suggested retail price starts at YEN 2.100.000 and the target sales volume is 800 units per month.

German carmaker BMW has announced the 2011 3 Series Coupe and Convertible. The models will go on sale in spring 2010, and the prices will be announced a little later. The carmaker also announced an outstanding style update for the 328i and the 335i models and a new engine for the 335i models capable of developing 300 horsepower and 300 lb. ft. of torque. All the output is being transferred to the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The 3 Series Coupe and Convertible come standard in the US with Xenon Adaptive Headlights. At the top, the new headlights merge into a trim bar cutting off the light beam to create that concentrated, focused look typical of a genuine BMW. Chrysler will soon introduce a new model for its 300C range. The 2010 300C range will offer four derivatives, the 300C SE, SR and SRT. This last one is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that sends the power to the wheels through an automatic transmission. The SRT-8 on the other hand receives the power from a 6.1-liter V8 HEMI petrol engine. The 300C SE has a starting price of EUR23.995 and offers a very high level of standard equipment. The engine is capable of developing 215 horsepower and 376 lb. ft. of torque enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 143 mph. Toyota will launch the redesigned Mark X in Japan. Lotus created the 2010 Model Year, Lotus Exige Cup 206, a model with enhanced handling and improved efficiency. The engine enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. It can take the design and aerodynamic changes first introduced on the Exige S earlier this year to enhance the look and improve aerodynamic performance. The model has now an evolution of the rear diffuser and structural shear panel based on the version developed for the Exige GT3 race car, which increases the lateral stiffness of the rear sub-frame by 30% further enhancing its outstanding handling. All cars have the safety equipment expected of a race car, with FIA and HANS compliant carbon fiber lightweight sports seats and normal 3-point harnesses. Skoda revealed the new faces of the Octavia vRS and Octavia Scout. The new vRS has a redesigned front grille featuring the vRS logo and bold headlamps, which for the first time can be fitted with xenon headlights combined with the adaptive front lighting system. The model is available with a choice of two engines, a 2.0-liter FSI capable of developing 200 BHP and a 2.0-liter TDI capable of producing 170 BHP.
