Nissan Pathfinder

The 2008 Nissan Pathfinder has been an innovative SUV capable of handling great adventures both on and off-road for more than 22 years. The year 2008 brings a 5.6-liter V8 engine, for the first time available for a Pathfinder, which delivers more than 300 HP and 380-plus lb-ft of torque, giving Pathfinder a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds. Scheduled to hit the markets in spring 2007, the 2008 Pathfinder features improvements that include new wheel designs, new front and rear styling and two new exterior colors, Mocha and White Frost. The stylish interior offers driving pleasure at the highest level with a heated steering wheel, a redesigned center console area, new illuminated switchgear, new trim packages as well as revised Nissan navigation System integrating 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive. Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, commented that the V8 Pathfinder added a new dimension to the nameplate that had set Nissan's SUV leadership in the previous 22 years and it re-established its place atop its segment with its own distinctive style, available technology features, flexible interior design and two available powerplants. The advanced features of the engine include an aluminum block, chain-driven dual overhead camshafts and an electronic drive-by-wire throttle, which provides precise control. The standard electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission backs both engine and it was specially tuned for each engine application, ensuring a smooth shift quality due to the Direct Cotrol System. Several advanced 4x4 systems are offered with the Nissan Pathfinder, instantly distributing torque to all four wheels no matter the road consitions and resulting in an optimal traction with improved fuel economy and enhanced cornering capability. Being an independent double-wishbone design with the coils located on the toe control link with stabilizer bar, the rear suspension ensures smooth ride quality and optimized handling. The active safety features integrate an energy absorbing steering column, front seat Active Head Restraints, Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters.
