Audi GT3 race sports cars will run in different national and international racing series and in the two 24-hour races at the Nurburgring and at Spa-Francorchamps in the 2010 season. The Audi R8 LMS will be handed over to customers for its second season, just like planned after its successful 2009 debut year in which Audi Sport partners clinched three championship titles and 23 victories in 76 racing commitments. The American-owned United Autosports team that operates out of Yorkshite in England was the first team to receive its two R8 LMS cars. The models now feature different technical improvements in comparison with the model from last year thanks to the opportunity offered by the GT3 regulations. Several details of the chassis and suspension have been revised. Also, the capacity of the cooling system of the engine has been improved even further so that the R8 LMS can also be used in extreme ambient temperatures without any problems. The exhaust system as well as the complex electronics has been optimized for use in racing. The six-speed racing gearbox is particularly maintenance-friendly. The wearing parts can be checked through an opening in the housing. The development process of the Audi R8 LMS took quite a lot of time and a lot of tests were made before the final result, but these only proved its durability. The established price for the R8 LMS starts at EUR298.000 including tax. The carmaker managed to sell all the annual production for 2010 already and the first deliveries for the 2011 season will begin at the end of this year. All the experience they gathered last year has helped the engineers to offer more to the evolution-version. The final model is a reliable, easy to handle development.
