Mazda carmaker developed a special edition to celebrate two decades of roadster success. The model will have its first official public display at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Only 2.000 units will be built and will be sold on the European market. The new model has as base the 1.8-liter soft top production roadster, but this new one has a special exterior styling package with chrome grille, door handles and headlight fascia. True Red, Crystal White Pearl and the new Aurora Blue are the color available for the special edition Mazda MX-5. The carmaker offers a special edition scuff plate in stainless steel with pan-European serial number. To ensure a sporty drive, Mazda engineers offer a strut tower bar. Except the MX-5, Mazda will also reveal the All-New Mazda5 model, a new people carrier perfect for families offered for the Europeans. Under the hood it hides a 2.0-liter DISI petrol engine equipped with i-stop that achieves around 15% reduction in CO2 emissions. It offers enough space for 7 people and it features sliding rear doors. At the same event, Mazda will include the SKY-G petrol and the SKY-D diesel engines, but also the Mazda SKY-Drive automatic transmission prepared for the beginning of 2011. These technologies will help the carmaker obtain that 30% economy in terms of fuel consumption expected by 2015. The automatic transmission will improve fuel economy by 5% and it will go perfectly with shifting feel similar to a dual clutch transmission. Another premier will include the new Mazda6 facelift version with new lamp designs for the front and back, for sportiness and a more premium identity. The carmaker offers it with a power-train lineup with 6-engines including 3 derivatives of the 2.2-liter turbo diesel and a new 2.0-liter DISI petrol engine. The power will be sent to the wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission that will also ensure optimal acceleration behavior and fuel economy.
