BMW Alpina B6 Bi-turbo Convertible

The 2011 BMW Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo Convertible provides a perfect match between driving dynamics and elegance, together with luxury materials, fantastic sound and thrilling performance. The new BMW Alpina B6 Bi-turbo Convertible offers its drivers a special experience for all the senses, a quality that has long characterised ALPINA automobiles. The V8 power plant, which is made of aluminum, delivers 507 HP at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 700 Nm, while the two turbo-chargers configured in parallel allow this engine to offer exceptional power output and torque, without compromising throttle response at low rpm. Due to intelligent, controllable exhaust valves, the exhaust system generates a backdrop of deep, sonorous eight-cylinder sound in interaction with the powerful engine. High-performance MAHLE pistons were developed specially to face pressures and temperatures associated with up to 1.0 bar charging and the engine's 9.2:1 nominal compression ratio. The class-leading fuel consumption of 10.9l/100 km and the CO2 emissions of 255 g/100km, are provided by direct-injection and Double-VANOS. ALPINA's engineers spent thousands of test and development hours in order to have the advanced SWITCH-TRONIC eight-speed Sport Automatic Transmission, which gives a high level of comfort and performance. There is no interruption to the delivery of power as the intelligent mixture of eight speeds and plenty of torque provides unparalleled comfortable gear changes. Each up-shift is accompanied by a deep back-pressure burble. Furthermore, the transmission is crisp and unmistakably immediate when using the Sport Shift Mode, while in the Manual Shift Mode, the SWITCH-TRONIC buttons are ergonomically and unobstrusively positioned on the back of the steering wheel, giving the driver full control of the transmission. The Automatic Up-Shift function means that the transmission will up-shift into a higher gear once a certain rpm threshold has been passed in the current gear. The new B6 Bi-Turbo Convertible features the latest electronic suspension technologies and comes with Drive Performance Control and Dynamic Drive as standard.
The aerodynamic properties of the B6 Bi-Turbo are emphasized by the front spoiler with integrated front splitter, the double tailpipes featuring a slightly elliptical shape in typical ALPINA style and the high-performance brakes, with a diameter of 374mm front and 345mm rear. The interior was developed with the customers' wishes in mind, offering an extensive range of standard equipment, including leather upholstery, fully adjustable comfort seats with heating system, navigation system with preparation for Bluetooth mobile phone, USB audio interface, Xenon lights and LED fog lights.
