Mazda carmaker is offering the MX-5 with an all new race-spec as a customer car which has an established price starting with GBP125.000. Actually, the Mazda MX-5 GT4 is the only track version of the standard MX-5. The carmaker developed it in collaboration with Jota Sport and it is actually a homage brought to the big success the GT4 race car had in the Avon Tires British GT Championship. Under the hood, the new Mazda MX-5 GT4 features a 2.0-liter turbo engine that uses a 6-speed sequential transmission to send the power to the wheels.
The doors, the rear diffuser and rear wing and also the rear splitter are covered in carbon fiber. The model also comes with a race-spec roll cage. According to the managing director of Jota Group, Sam Hignett, the new Mazda MX-5 GT4 is very easy to use in races and it seems that it is even suited for track day enthusiasts. The development process is not finalized yet, but the Mazda specialists are happy to say that they can offer the car to their customers in safe conditions knowing that it would be a great competitor in any GT4 field.
