SRT Viper GTS-R

Viper presented its pair of Viper GTS-R cars in the 6th round of the American Le Mans Series in Lexington, Ohio at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Even if the team was far from catching a place on the podium, the specialists were pleased just to have both cars finish the race. One of them even managed to be in the top ten. The two models were the No. 91 Forza Motorsports Viper GTS-R in blue and silver driven by Kuno Wittmer and Dominik Farnbacher and the No.93 Pennzoil Ultra car in yellow and silver.

This model has as drivers Marc Gooseens and Tommy Kendall. Even if the two cars were far from being as fast as the Corvettes, BMWs, Ferraris and Porsches, they got quicker as the race progressed, according to Team Viper. The No. 91 had no problems all day and in fact it was most of the time close to the Lotus Evora. The No. 93 on the other hand had two incidents.

One of them was an off-track excursion minutes before the end of the race. The winner of the race was Oliver Gavin from Corvette Racing with his No. 4 Corvette C6 ZR1, which managed to keep away the No. 45 Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The GT Class of ALMS racing is now one of the most interesting series to watch now that Viper and Lotus Evora have joined. The ones present at the big event can confirm the exciting sound the models made during the race. For example, the 8.4-liter V10 engine that powered the Viper has a very distinct sound on the track. Even if it is not a gutteral as the 5.5-liter V8 engine that powers the Corvette, it is not as loud as the 4.0-liter V8 that powers the BMW M3 model or as shrieky as the 4.5-liter V8 found under the hood of the Ferrari 458 Italia. In two weeks time, the Team Viper will compete again.
