Beautifully blending the traditional attributes of a Sports Utility Vehicle- muscle and ruggedness, the 2012 Suzuki XA Alpha concept displays elegance and compactness, representing at the same time newness and trendiness. It is a four-metre concept that aims to reach those customers who want to enter the utility vehicle segment, being also the signification of the "A", while the "X" signifies Cross-over category. The vehicle was the highlight of the Maruti Suzuki pavilion, being presented in glistening Lava Red, signaling Maruti Suzuki's plans to expand into the utility vehicles space. The company's objective is to create new categories in the utility vehicle segment, providing the best in technology. The company is going to build on the success of its diesel offerings while also expanding its popular range of K-series petrol engines. Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, stated when unveiling the Concept XA Alpha, that India was set to become a top automobile market in the world and Maruti Suzuki would lead India's automobile growth and evolution by strengthening its compact car portfolio, entering new segments and creating new product categories across fuel options. He added that the Concept XA was designed for a market of customers with a young urban lifestyle.
