Buick developed the 2013 Verano, a model capable of developing 250 horsepower and 260 lb. ft. of torque. All this output is being sent to the wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. If you are wondering where is this power coming from, well, the carmaker offered a 2.0-liter Ecotec inline-four developed by General Motors. It enables the 2013 Buick Verano to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. In terms of output, its closest competitor is the 2013 Acura ILX 2.4-liter capable of developing 170 lb. ft. of torque.
The carmaker decided to use a small-displacement turbocharged engine is actually an effort to downsize its power-trains without compromising performance. Buick also offers the standard 2013 Regal 4-cylinder engine equipped with eAssist. Just for information, it seems that the use of 4-cylinder engines in the US vehicles will grow by 74% over the next decade, from 6.9 million to 12.2 million units. The 2013 Buick Verano Turbo will be able to send the power to the wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission or through a 6-speed manual one. This brand actually offers more manual gearboxes that Lamborghini or Ferrari in one place. The acceleration performance is expected to be quite different between the two transmissions mentioned above.
Unfortunately, these are all the information available so far and numbers indicating the fuel economy and not final yet, but might be in line other turbocharged models developed by Buick. Production of the 2013 Verano will begin before the end of this year and then, the carmaker will also announce the price list. In the meantime, in the gallery below you can see some images of the new achievement of the Buick engineers, the Buick Verano Turbo.
