2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS with 1LE Performance Package review and pictures
American carmaker Chevrolet developed a new package to improve the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS. The model received the 1LE Performance Package. This information was released in March and it seems that the new improved vehicle will offer a real treat to its enthusiasts. This package is not all advantages. There might be some problems when it comes to the price. It is true, it is an alternative to the range topping ZL1 model, but many enthusiasts may find it a little too expensive and will not be able to afford it.
The 1LE package is available with 1SS and 2SS coupe models that feature an exclusive Tremec TR6060-MM6 6-speed manual transmission. The close-ratio gearing of the transmission is tuned for road-racing performance. The package also includes exclusive mono-tube rear dampers instead of the twin-tube dampers on SS models. The 1LE suspension was tuned thanks to the new hardware and now it is focused on optimal body-motion control while preserving much of the ride quality and wheel-motion control of the new model. The carmaker managed to improve the model by offering a lot of elements like large, 27 mm solid front stabilizer bar and 28 mm solid rear stabilizer bar for improved body control. The list continues with strut tower brace for improved steering feel and response, ZL1 wheel bearings, toe links and rear shock mounts for improved on-track performance and higher-capacity rear-axle half shafts to cope with increased levels of traction.
In terms of visual effects, the 1LP package features front splitter and rear spoiler and also matte black hood. For the interior, the Chevrolet Camaro SS with the 1LE package incorporates the flat-bottom steering wheel of the ZL1, designed for easier heel-and-toe driving on the racetrack and trimmed in suede-microfiber. Going back in time a little, the first Chevrolet Camaro 1LE performance package was introduced in 1988.
