Ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, American carmaker Chrysler has decided to reveal a special edition of the 2013 Dodge Dart Mopar. According to the specialists, the model will be built as a limited edition and so only 500 units will find a home. This is actually the fourth special-edition Mopar-badged vehicle created since the company joined forces with Fiat in 2009. We will have the opportunity to see the model for the first time, in an official way at the Chicago Auto Show that will take place next week. The 2012 version of the Dodge Dart will be built and customized with Mopar performance parts and accessories. The production process will start this spring in Belvidere, Illinois. All modifications have the driver as point of reference.
Under the hood, the model hides a 1.4-liter MultiAir intercooled turbo engine which uses a manual transmission to transfer the output to the road. It has a gloss-black finish with a pair of car-length Mopar Blue stripes, which mirror each of the three previous Mopar-themed models. To improve handling, the engineers have provided a performance steering-gear calibration, a 7-mm-lower suspension and low-profile 40 aspect performance tires that measure 225 / 40 R18. The tuner adds a premium brake kit to handle the extra power with slotted rotors.
On the inside, the new model features a serialized plate and for the driver, a specially made Mopar Blue leather seat with black accents. The other seats are black with blue accent stitching. The highlight of the interior is a floating island bezel that is accentuated with Mopar Blue paint and lighting. In terms of technology, the vehicle features industry-first wireless charging for smart phones, a blue-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel with an identically garnished shifter knob, an 8.40inch navigation screen and premium Mopar carpet floor mats.
