It is true MPV / minivan models are not really capable of making our pulse speed as they do not offer driving excitement. Another important fact refers to the models that feature the most modern interpretation of the formula, which improves them considerably. We will take as an example, the Kia Carens which according to the carmaker will be available for purchase starting next month, to be more precise, on the 1st of May on the UK market. The ones interested in owning one of the bad boys should know that the price has been established to start at GBP17.895. The carmaker offers the new Carens with a choice of three engines and the classic Kia seven year warranty. To be really honest, the car looks like a stylish estate and not like a boxy 7-seater MPV. Thanks to its grille and lights, the model is one of the best-looking cars in the segment.
As mentioned above, it will be available with a choice of three engines, two diesels and one petrol unit, the 1.6-liter Gamma GDI direct-injection petrol engine. This is actually capable of generating up to 133 horsepower which enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds returning 44.1 mpg on a combined cycle. In terms of diesels, a single unit is being offered in two different power levels with 114 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque and with 134 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque. The most powerful one is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 10.0 seconds. To transfer the output to the wheels, the engineers have provided a 6-speed automatic transmission as optional. The new Carens is being offered in three trim levels. As standard, the model includes LED daytime running lamps, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, seven seats, air conditioning and cruise control with a speed limiter. The list continues with MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth with voice recognition and music streaming and a 6-speaker RDS radio / CD player with iPod connectivity.
