The model we have been all waiting for has finally arrived. Italian supercar manufacturer developed the Aventador LP700-4 Roadster. Despite the fact that its predecessor, the Murcielago Roadster features a fabric roof that limited the speed to just 100 mph, the new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster comes equipped with a hard top that can even be removed by hand. It only weighs 6 kg and can be removed in a few seconds. The engineers have used carbon fiber for the roof and the Forged Composite technology developed by the company. This managed to develop a less dense material which is stronger than titanium. The new model receives power from a 6.5-liter V12 normally-aspirated engine.
This also comes with stop / start system, cylinder deactivation and it sends the output to the wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission. If the roof is up, the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster needs 3.0 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph and it can reach a top speed of 217 mph. The rear pillars have been redesigned to offer extra strength when the model runs with no roof. This is not their only function. Actually the power unit receives extra ventilation and more rollover protection. The engine cover features two lines of hexagonal windows and the doors have a chamfered edge for the frameless windows, providing a tight finish into the carbon fiber roof.
To transfer the output to the road, the engineers have provided 20- and 21-inch alloy wheels, front and rear, which lower the weight of the car by 10 kg. It also features a bespoke two-tone finish. The Italians will offer the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster for sale starting next summer. The starting price was established at EUR300.000, and taxes are not included.
