Italian carmaker Lamborghini developed a new supercar and revealed it at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. We are talking about the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 which is now more efficient. It features an extremely fast and innovative start / stop system and the cylinder deactivation bring significant savings in fuel consumption, under partial load. Apart from these, the engineers also offer different individualization options that make it special and unique. The technology used is also unique. For example, the energy for re-start following a stop phase is delivered by high-performance capacitors known as supercaps which help the car start very fast. This new technology also delivers a weight saving of three kilograms. Only the electronic systems receive power from the classic vehicle battery, which also occupies very little space. It also lasts for the entire life of the car.
The Cylinder Deactivation System deactivates one cylinder bank under low load and at speeds of less than 135 km/h. this way the power unit runs in an inline six. All these end when the driver slightly touches the gas pedal. The performance of the V12 engine capable of developing 700 horsepower goes back online. Just for information, the two technical systems, the start / stop and the Cylinder Deactivation System are almost impossible to feel for the driver and they have no negative impact on the driving experience.
The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 uses 16.0-liters of fuel, but at speeds that exceed the 130 km/h limit, both the fuel consumption and the Co2 emission level are being reduced by 20%, in the end reaching 370 g/km CO2. Because of stiffer springs and optimized dampers, the ride comfort has been improved. The carmaker also offers alloy wheels in the Dione design.
