It is a bit quick, but specialists from Mercedes Benz have developed and introduced two new eco-friendly versions of the E-Class. The models are the E 200 Natural Gas and Drive and E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition. The two are capable of offering great driving sensation combined with fuel economy. The first one runs the car on natural gas and it includes a 20 % reduction on CO2 emissions compared with comparable operation using petrol and half the costs for fuel. The second edition also underscores the environmental credentials of the E-Class. It offers driving dynamics, comfort and pleasure.
In case you are interested in it, the special model will be available from Mercedes-Benz partners from September 2013 for a starting price of EUR47.272. The E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition will be available starting December and the starting price will start at EUR47.808. The natural gas mode is kinder to the environment than petrol or diesel units thanks to the cleaner exhaust gases. Running the engine on natural gas is also noticeably kinder to the pocket of the driver as it manages to reduce fuel bills by more than 50 % in comparison to running on petrol. The natural gas is stored securely in three containers: one behind the rear backrest and two under the floor of the boot. The large boot offers 400 liters of space despite the additional gas tank. The E 220 BlueTEC BlueEFFICIENCY Edition receives power from a 4-cylinder unit capable of producing 156 horsepower. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 220 km/h.
