Peugeot 2008 Crossover

As a lot of manufacturers will do, Peugeot is heading for the Geneva Motor Show where it will follow the Japanese Nissan Juke and the Opel Mokka from the well-known crossover segment. At the event, the French carmaker will display its new 2008 model. The carmaker will introduce it in several regions of the world including Europe, Asia and also South America. At the beginning of the year, the carmaker offered us the first taste of the model that in fact has as base the 208 unit. Now, time has come for us to see and hear more on the model. According to the carmaker, the new Peugeot 2008 is its first vehicle to be designed, developed and engineered in the same time in Europe, China and Latin America.

The manufacturing factories of these regions are located in France, Brazil and China. The 5-door version has as base the platform of the longer version of the 208 hatchback and its dimensions are: 4.160 mm in length which in fact make the model 200 mm longer than the 208 super-mini and only 20 mm longer than the concept version revealed last year at the Paris Auto Show. From the outside, the model looks a lot like the 208, but has chunkier detailing, a higher ride and protective plastic moldings around the bumpers and side sills to somehow explain the crossover character. We can now move to the inside and here we will see that the dashboard is borrowed from the super mini.

The French carmaker actually tried to spice things up a little with enhanced trim detailing. The model will be available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine capable of generating 82 PS, 110 PS and 130 PS, with a 1.6-liter VTi petrol with 120 PS, with a 1.4-liter diesel capable of producing 68 PS and also a 1.6-liter diesel available with 92 PS and 115 PS as output. The model will be available for sale in a coupe of months.
