Volkswagen XL1 production version in Geneva

Germans from Volkswagen have made a very nice announcement regarding the release of the XL1 in the home market. For you interested in it and maybe thinking of owning it, know that the starting price has been established to start at 110.000. As the photos found below explain, the new model is very interesting in comparison to previous VW models and its best quality actually refers to the fuel consumption that is capable of reaching 0.9 liters per 100 km. At the same time, the CO2 emission level reaches 20 g per km.

As you have probably guest, the model is a plug-in hybrid that comes with an electric motor capable of generating 27 horsepower thanks to a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery combined with a 2-cylinder TDI engine that has a 48 horsepower output. In the end you can do the math for the overall power produced. The Germans have decided to only build 200 units and this is why the model will be that expensive. If we are now talking about the UK market, the price of the car can go up to GBP100.000. The engineers will use different materials, but most of them will refer to carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

As expected, the units will have a left-hand drive configuration. Thanks to the power mentioned earlier, the model will able of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 12.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 100 mph. In terms of the production car, you should know that it will have a speed limiter activated in order to increase fuel efficiency. Only on electric mode, the new VW XL1will have a range of 31 miles. Soon we will also have details on the new XL Sport model that receives power from a Ducati unit.
