Bavarians from BMW have revealed a new model at the 2013 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show. We are now talking about the new Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo which is capable of setting new standards in terms of performance and efficiency. It receives power from a 3.0-liter diesel with Bo-Turbo charging unit capable of generating 350 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. This output enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and to reach a top speed of 278 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, the unit registers 5.3 liters per 100 km.
The engineers have offered a large-volume intercooler with optimized inlets and outlets supplies the engine with fresh air. Now, so that you know, on the exhaust side there is an exhaust manifold made from the super-strong material D5S which allows the maximum exhaust temperature. To transfer the output to the wheels, the specialists have offered an 8-speed automatic transmission with Alpina Switch-Tronic which has been developed in collaboration with ZF. The Alpina engineers have offered the transmission to improve comfort and sports characteristics.
There is an ECO PRO mode which includes coasting. This activates a more defensive transmission and accelerator pedal characteristics. The model also received the adaptive ALPINA sports chassis that uses electronically adjustable dampers in collaboration with tuned springs and anti-roll bars. To handle the extra power, the engineers have offered an 18-inch high-performance brake system with 370 mm brake discs at the front and 345 mm brake discs at the rear.
