Tuning a car in a great manner needs a lot of experience and dedication. As there are lots of tuning firms on the market, they have to be competitive enough to resist. Hennessey is a tuning company which has some history background, but it is a controversial name when it comes down to the tuning packages it develops. This doesn’t stop them from trying, though, and here they are back with an upgrade package for the Chevrolet SS.
Hennessey thought of offering the HPE1000 package for the Chevrolet SS especially for the people who expected a high-performance SS from the manufacturer, a version that hasn’t been released yet. The tuning package consists of a 7.0-liter LSX V8 engine that received two turbochargers, a new intake manifold, low compression pistons and a Callies 4340 forged steel crank. The engine is equipped with a custom camshaft, upgraded fuel injectors and a stainless steel exhaust system, as well as an air-to-air intercooler, a high-flow air filter and a new ECU.
Hennessey should feel very proud with this tuning package, as the Chevrolet SS is now able to produce 1,000 bhp (745 kW), a figure which will certainly offer the vehicle more speed than the stock version which sprints the 0-60 mph in approximately five seconds with its 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine that develops 415 bhp (310 kW) and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) of torque. The tuner is short with information just for now. Besides the power boost, the sedan also receives an individually-numbered dash plaque, floor mats, exterior badges, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and even a CarbonAero body kit. All these are optional and every client is free to choose what best suits his needs.
