American carmaker Ford announced a new model, the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition, which is the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup truck. The model comes with a new package that can be ordered by customers that want to add some unique elements to their vehicle. This package includes a Ruby Red Metallic exterior color and box-side graphics and when it comes to the interior upgrades, it contains Brick Red seat bolsters with black inserts and cloth honey-comb highlights, center stack, console top finish panel and door panel appliqué accents. The model is scheduled to go on sale this fall. According to the manufacturer, the 2014 Special Edition is the best Raptor yet for the ones looking for a high-performing, uncompromising off-road pickup truck. SVT Raptor sales are up to 14 % in 2013, with five out of the past six months seeing record sales. Last year, more than 13.000 F-150 SVT Raptor models were sold. Since its launch, the engineers have tried to improve it even more and succeeded. For 2012 the carmaker offered a grille-mounted camera to improve the visibility of the driver when climbing over rocks or other obstacles. The 2012 model has a Torsen limited-slip differential and a 4WD system that enables the truck to balance traction between both front wheels.
The F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition receives power from a 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of generating 411 horsepower and 434 lb. ft. of torque. All the output is being transferred to the wheels through an electronic 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4 wheel drive comes with electronic shift-on-the-fly capability for the transfer case.
