The new 2014 MINI John Cooper Works Paceman All4 was taken out for a quick test in Frankfurt in the rural areas, to be more precise. The model is actually a bit faster in comparison to the Countryman; it is also a little lighter and better looking. The model tested received 215 horsepower from the engine and it used incredible Pirelli Sottozero Winter 210 Series II tires measuring 205 / 55 / R17 91 H all around to transfer them to the road. The new model is lower thanks to the standard sport-tuned dampers and springs. The center handbrake is calibrated not to snap the car around. The engineers have offered the optional Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission to transfer the output to the wheels and its stick proved to be incredible for the slippery curves.
The model also comes with like a Sport button that in case steering effort thickens, the exhaust crackles and pops when you lift off the gas, so this is actually a very sensitive button that can harm the balance of the car. Under the hood it hides a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine capable of generating 215 horsepower, like mentioned above and 207 lb. ft. of torque.
For the interior, the carmaker offered a lot of plastics with chili red detailing which increased the sporty cuteness. On the doors the model got window switches. We can say with all the confidence in the world that the new MINI John Cooper Works Paceman is one of the better JCW treatments. During the test, the driver confirmed the top speed of the model and that is 127 mph. The 17-inch wheels have helped a lot. Thanks to their pliable sidewalls and compound the curb impact noise and harness were improved. In the end we can admit that being behind the wheel of one of these cars is a really nice experience.
