2014 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept review and pictures
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is perhaps the most significant of all events celebrating the mystique of Historic Cars. It is an elegance competition for classic and vintage cars . It has taken place every year since 1929 during the last weekend of April in Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como , Italy . Since 2011 the event takes place in the second half of May. BMW Group has organised the Concorso, jointly with the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este, for the last ten years. One of the stars of this year is the MINI Superleggera Vision Concept.
The Mini Superleggera Vision Concept is the result of the collaboration between BMW and the coachbuilders from Touring Superleggera. The vehicle is a modern interpretation of an open-top two-seater. Brought nicely in the future, the small vehicle features an electric powertrain. The vehicle’s body is manufactured of hand-shaped metal sheeting. The car comes with a minimalistic design, and it is built to offer a distinctive driving experience.
Inside the Mini Superleggera Vision Concept we notice leather, aluminum and black chrome highlights. The model is distinguished by a stretched bonnet, a long wheelbase and short overhangs. The wheels are placed very close to the car's corners and its passenger cell is slightly set back. The car was designed in Italy. However it keeps Mini's distinctive styling elements. These include the two circular headlights, the hexagonal grille, the wide track and the curved wheel arches. The concept is covered in a Como Blue exterior finish with a liquid effect, elaborate wheels, exterior mirrors with a long-hole look, CFRP sills and diffuser, and LED lights. The concept is both classy and modern and it is quite impressive.
