Opel has now taken the wraps off their new Zafira Tourer 1.6 SIDI Turbo.
The manufacturer describes the car as `most powerful compact monocab in the market place`. The new Zafira Tourer is powered by a top of the range direct injection gasoline engine designed to complete the OpelFlexibility Master`s range as its most performant version. The 1.6 liter four cylinder motor outputs 200 HP (147 kW) and has a 300 Nm (221 lb - ft) peak torque gained from 1.700 to 4.700 rpm. The automaker informs that the car offers `20 per cent more torque than its closest competitor in the compact monocab segment`. Due to the new version of the 1.6 SIDI Turbo engine, the car has a very low level of vibration and noise. The new powertrain version will be introduced in the next twelve months in the Zafira Tourer.
The vehicle is mated to a revised six speed manual transmission that enables fast and smooth shifting. The Zafira Tourer accelerates from 0 to 100 Km/ h (0 -60 mph) in 8.9 seconds before reaching its top speed of 225 Km/ h (140 mph). The fuel consumption is around 7 liters / 100 Km (40.3 mp UK or 33.6 mpg US). The optimized version of the 1.6 SIDI Turbo engine emits 164 g/ Km CO2.
While developing the engine, the engineers intended it to produce a powerful output but at the same time to offer a comfortable smooth drive. In order to obtain this result, they made further modifications to the exhaust systems and induction.
The vehicles rides on 17 to 19 inch wheels and features state of the art technologies designed for a comfortable safer drive. Therefore, the auto includes the Side Blind Spot Alert, a front camera with Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Departure Warning.
Dr. Karl-Thomas, Opel CEO describes the car as `a winning combination of high-level performance and ultimate comfort`. Pricing for the auto is announced to be `highly competitive`.
