Kia may relaunch Borrego SUV as 2011 model
For about a year, the Kia Borrego was not available in the US market but there are reports coming out now that the Kia Borrego may return for the 2011 model year.
After being introduced in late 2008, the Borrego failed to hit initial sales targets. Just over 9000 were sold, opposed to a sales goal of 20,000, turning out to be a big disappointment for Kia, so the company decided not to mark a 2010 Borrego. A 2010 Borrego was never marketed and by all accounts, it looked like the Borrego has vanished.
However, there are reports that indicate that there are plans for a 2011 model. A Kia spokesperson declined to provide details, but said the model, if produced, is "still in the planning stages."
The SUV is expected to keep the same content levels and powertrain offerings if it comes back for the 2011 model year: a 3.8-liter V- (276 hp/267 lb-ft of torque) and a 4.6 liter V8 (337 hp/323 lb-ft of torque). The V6 uses a five-speed automatic transmission while the V8 is mated to the same six-speed automatic that you'll find in the BMW X5.
