Audi Quattro concept could be headed for production

Audi seem to be considering a production version for the Audi Quattro concept.
The manufacturer`s head of design announced that they are still uncertain whether the auto will be based on the Sport Quattro (revealed during this year`s edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show) or on the first Quattro project revealed three years ago during the Paris Motor Show. Wolfgang Egger stated that: ` With every design concept we do we are thinking about everything becoming reality` and that `We have done one (designed for MQB platform) and now we have done the other (on larger MLB platform) so now we need to make a decision.`
Whichever the manufacturer`s choice it is clear at this point that this decision will highly impact the Audi sport car generation to come. All the different buttons and functions will be reduced thus creating a lightweight design for a more comfortable driving experience.
The original Audi Quattro is 4.28 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and 1.33 meters tall, riding on 20 inch wheels. The concept is powered by a turbocharged 2.5 liter five cylinder engine that outputs 402 hp (300 kW) and a 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) peak torque. The 1.300 Kg auto can go from 0 to 100 Km/ h in 3.9 seconds. The car features the Quattro all wheel drive technology.
The Sport concept is powered by a plug in hybrid powertrain consisting in twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine (outputting 560 hp) and an electric motor located between the engine and the eight speed transmission. The concept delivers a combined output of 700 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. The 1.850 vehicle goes from 0 to 100 Km/ h in 3.7 seconds and hits a maximum speed of 305 Km/ h having a 2.5 liters/ 100 Km fuel consumption.
